Capacity Review
A Capacity Review of all Independent Ethics Committees (IEC) activities will commence in September 2007 to ascertain the amount of activity/work of the independent ethics committees.
Scope
The Capacity Review will determine:- the demand each IEC receives on average over one month and over one year,
- current practices of IEC, that is, how they operate and whether there are gaps in capacity
- costs incurred by the IEC in carrying out their duties
- the roles of the IEC coordinator/administrator and the Business and Operations Manager for AAPEC
This Capacity Review is a snapshot of the current system operated by IEC and will involve relevant stakeholders completing a short questionnaire and follow-up interviews. Questionnaires specific to individual roles and sent prior to semi-structured face-to-face interviews include:
- General questionnaire to IEC Chair and Coordinator
- Chair & Vice Chair questionnaire
- Coordinator questionnaire
- Committee Member questionnaire
Report
A final report will be available initially to AAPEC Board with recommendations and the Department of Health for information.
